Children's choir meeting

The Domokos Pál Péter Children's Choir Meeting of the Gheorgheni/Gyergyó Basin started in 1935, and since 1992 it has been held every year without interruption, this year hosted by Ciumani/Gyergyócsomafalva.

Music educators in the Gheorgheni/Gyergyó Basin agree that, in addition to music education in schools, there is a need for more practical, in-depth and multi-faceted music education, which is provided by experiences in orchestras and choirs. The aim of our event was therefore to foster the cultural tradition of choral singing in this region and to develop the musical ear, singing technique and musical literacy of school-age children. The programme also provided an opportunity for music teachers to exchange ideas and experiences, while offering performance opportunities for school choirs.
